Coding is everywhere

I shifted to Bangalore about 2 months ago. Got a semi furnished home. The major task now is to design it. Where to keep the things, which cupboard to use for storing what, having dustbins everywhere, managing kitchen, storing different clothings and utilities and much more! Majority of the time we spend on our code is making it good. Naming it, thinking of its design, if it is expressing intent or not.

The principles of cleanliness, principles of design and other basic life things are what the code also needs. Imagine the code to be an entity and draw this parallelism. Lets take the example of our wardrobes/almirah.

Our mind does a lot of subconscious things in our daily life which we read in the coding books. If you start keeping the cupboard dirty just slight at a time, then within some time everything will become a mess. Same with our codebase. So everytime you work, make sure the code is in a better position than before. I learnt some practical things from coding and a lot of coding things from my physical practices.

You can correlate the importance of cleanliness and etiquettes from one thing or the other and try to have them in your code base and practical life.
