What is Logical / Illogical?

Is earth at the centre of the universe? No, right. We “know that” right now. But if you talk to people in 1200s, they all believed that Earth was at the center and sun revolved around it. We weren’t that advanced in telescopes or astronomy science at that point to disproof this. So, this was an axiom. Axiom is the base considered true for future arguments as you have no counterproof against it and it’s observed by masses. So till the time Galileo (physicist & astronomer) had proof, Earth was considered to be at the center of the universe.

The axiom was proven wrong then. So people in 13th Century will consider you illogical if you say that Earth revolves around sun. So what is logical in a society at a given point in time can be illogical after some time.

How do we build our knowledge?

At the very small level, we make axioms. And based on these axioms, we make further results and they are taken as base for next higher research. There is no proof for the base condition (like in recursion). It’s just observation by human people. Like we created a language mathematics to understand all things and in that we know that 2+2 = 4. This is the very base of base conditions.

But there are times when these base conditions might be proven wrong on discovering some additional things or as we try o understand nature more.

Like as more fields get explored, we get more data. Like in 15th century, Astronomy grew and gave us proofs that earth revolves around sun and not the other way around.

So how we build our knowledge is we make it layer by layer. The lowermost layer is considered truth(axiom) and more things are made on top of it.

Say, after 1000 years from now, we may come to know a fact which is opposite of what we know now. Generally, IMO(in my opinion) in present day with so much and so fast exchange of information, chances of that happening are very less.

So, say we are at Nth Layer in the knowledge in some field right now. IMO, N-2 layers can be disproved i.e the top 2 or top K layers. The chances of the base layer being disproved is next to impossible now. As they were derived from nature. If they break, then consider that the starting of the end XD. The reason behind this is the sudden increase of communication and technology. Guy in India can speak to a person doing the same research in states. The communication is faster. So it has kind of united all mankind. And there have been many revisions to the N layer of knowledge at which we are right now. That’s why it’s very difficult to prove that earth does not revolve around sun but something else! Because we have a lot of data supporting the fact right now and I possibly I cannot think of any other way this is possible. If it is, then some of the axiom at some layer below this layer is wrong and thus a breakthrough will happen. I feel, we are kind of attaining the saturation in major breakthroughs.(The only thing we aren’t so sure of right now is gravity). IMO, that is one of the core reasons of building the LHC. To open the chances of major breakthrough. Something like the gravity equation in the interstellar ending.

So, What is Logical / Illogical? We call something logical if it’s derived from axioms. Except time and gravity we have pretty much covered everything. Like me believing today that earth is rotating on the horn of a bull and whenever it switches between horns, and earthquake happens. I can disprove it now saying that we have image proofs from the rocket we sent above. And we have better logical reasoning of earthquakes happening too. We know about the tectonic plates and all.

Another theory is whatever you believe is right! Your brain sends signals and the universe manifests it. So there is nothing as logical / illogical. My roommate is one such person believing in the same. Ways to attain it are mastering your complex body which is part of this mystic nature through meditation.

Well, it’s a deep thought. Ping me if you too feel in such a way. These are just things I believe in. I don’t have any proof and have used IMO (In my opinion) in a lot of places. This whole thing may sound logical after some years maybe! :P
